From a blog post on Dr Tracey Wond's personal blog.
Tracey's presentation for the International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM), presented in April 2018 in Edinburgh:
It looks at the disconnect between public policy discourse on evidence use and articulations of evaluation use/misuse/misevaluation/nonuse. Within the presentation, Tracey shared interview data gained over several years which exemplifies and characterises varying types and levels of use. In doing so, she argued that evaluation use theory (see for instance Alkin, 1990; Christie and Alkin, 1999; Patton, 2005) has a lot to offer public discourse on evidence use (adding to the evidence-based policy and practice debate).
